Markings on 86 Z28 wheels...
OK, 2 questions. First, I got new tires yesterday and the guys at NTB put the wheels that were on the front on the left and the wheels that were on the back on the right (i only know b/c the front ones had loads of brakedust on them). When I was looking for wheels at T/A Creations (www.tacreationsusa.com i think) I remember reading that the 82-92 cars had different front and rear wheels and it was marked on the front of the Z28 wheels (by front i assume they meant the side everyone sees what you drive by). Are the 86's actually different or was 82-92 just a typo and its actually like 88-92?
My other question is there are little tabs on the wheels with markings, what do they mean? The 2 wheels on the front now say 1.5 AW 43 the rear driver side says 1.25 AW 35 and the rear passenger side says 1.5 AW 28. I've also got a spare Z28 wheels I picked up off the side of the road that says 75 P 21. Anyone know what they mean??

Soon to have a bra (gag! but the front paint is hurting bad)

Here's my stab at what I think you're struggling with.
First, 16 inch wheels ARE front and rear specific. 15 inch wheels are not and can be rotated to front OR rear.
Second, the "tabs" you're talking about sound like balancing weights, which are VERY common.

What he said above, 15's can rotate anywhere and 16's are front/rear specific. Those are wheel weights.
1.5 AW 43--1.5 ounce, aluminum wheel style weight, 43 grams.
1.25 AW 35--1.25 ounce, aluminum wheel style weight, 35 grams.
and so on...
Too bad they didn't do a static balance(weights only on the inside of the wheel). It looks nicer than a dynamic balance(weights on both sides of the wheel).
