Door Glass removal?
Door Glass removal?
I need to remove the door glass from my '92 Z28 with power windows. I've done the passenger side, but it was very ugly. I drilled out the rivets holding the motor, and was able to lift the glass up, but couldn't get it out the top opening. I ended up just smacking it with a hammer and vacuming up the pieces.
I would hate to have to go through this on the passenger side, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to how I can pull the glass out in one piece?
TIA!

Breaking the window is much more fun...
You do have to remove the power window regulator, that's a given. Once the regulator's out, remove the black triangle "filler piece" at the front of the window. (All bolts are 10mm's). You should be able to pull the window out from the gap that will be left at the front top of the door.
Specifically, the large wheel at the back of the window "sash" will come out of this hole. I can't remember, but I think the front part of the sash (metal piece at bottom of window) is able to slide out everywhere.
Oh- you might have to remove the outer weatherstrip from the "bottom" of the window. I think it's held on with phillip's head screws. They're kinda hard to get at.
Good luck..

Oh I forgot to add that you'll have to twist the window strangely... I performed this with the doors off the car. Hopefully you'll be able to get the angle you need with the door on the car.
