I'm gonna order my gear box and was wondering if there is a prefered brand or if they're all the same. Also, what is the RPO for the Performance suspension. Thanks

More important than the brand is to make sure you get the box designed for an F-Body with 16" wheels. The easiest way to determine this is to verify that the unit has 2.25 turns lock to lock. The 15" wheel Z28 - Trans Am box looks the same and has the same ratio but has smaller internal bump stops. This will cause the wheel to rub the inner fenderwell on some cars.

I have an AGR box in my IROC and IM happy with it. I bought the 1161p thru summmit. when i installed it i found out the valving in it was soft compared to my stock box. I didnt like it so i sent it to AGR. They changed out the valving to a 220 torsion valve for free. They 1161p comes stock with a 210. The 220 valve is real close to the stock valving found in the IROCs.

Thanks for the replies guys. What part of Florida are you from Mike? I'm moving to just south of Orlando in the spring when I get out of the Army. Did the new box tighten the front end up? My steering seems softer to the right than to the left. I'm prettysure it's the box because everything else is new up front.

I live about 5 minutes from Clearwater beach. I had replaced everything in the frontend but the box. I was still unhappy with the handling, It was like a new car after the box went in. I had 125,000 on my old box so it was pretty sloppy. If you have high mileage i would get one you will be glad you did.
