Mono ball joint vs Howe tall joint vs something else?
I'm researching my options for ball joints. I'd like a joint that would provide me with first and foremost, strength. Secondly I'm looking for something to raise my spindle to help out in the camber curve dept.
It looks like the two main options are the Howe tall ball joints in .5" taller than stock.
or
a mono ball setup like this

They are adjustable and are very close in price to the howe joints. The thing that I can't find is what the range of adjustability is from stock. I.E. what is the maximum height you can adjust to.
Now for both of these the ones I can find online say they replace the 6145 style joint. The P/N I find for our cars is the 6145T, is there any difference between the 6145t and 6145?
Since both of these joints are the same price, what is the catch when using the mono ball?
My buddy claims there is a third option. He is into the off road racing scene (baja trucks) and he claims that on off road trucks, they will mount a mono ball (he calls it a uniball) with a large ID hole with offset drilled sleeves to fit the hole. They drill the spindle so that there is no taper and just install a bolt through with spacers to adjust the height of the spindle. They can also make further suspension adjustments by changing the offset drilled sleeves in the uniball. Sounded like an interesting way to adjust scrub radius, sai, etc.
Is this guy on crack or what? Drilling out the spindle for a bolt and not having an interference fit didn't seem especially safe to me but he claims this is done on offroad trucks all the time.
Anyone ever heard of anything like this for road racing?

The 'T' is from Moog, the heavy duty version of the 6145 and the only thing they sell now.
IIRC some G-body guys talked about running a taller joint that was from some other application, a truck I think. Its the same joint, see whats out there.
That mono ball looks like a dirt catcher.

I was thinking the same thing about the monoball setup but my friend who is the offroad guy claims that is how they run them off road. I'm assuming they replace them often.

there must be a dust boot or something you can use the keep crap out of the monoball. Or just keep them clean and they should work fine.
