front tire wear

About a month ago I had new tie rod ends(outer only)and alighnment done to my 86 iroc.About once a week I drive to a friends house and its about 70miles,at 65mph of flat rd.When I get home Ive been smelling a burning rubber smell.Today I looked at my pass.side front tire and the outer edge was burning, yeh melting.it was so hot I couldnt touch it. whats the deal? This has to be a problem with the work done ,wouldnt you think?it never did it before and it just passed a hard state inspection.Thats who found the bad rod end and said everything else is tight.I have never seen a tire get this hot.Im just glad it didnt give out at 65mph with my daughter in the car.any thoughts helpful come monday morning, thanks

sounds like the shop the did the te rod end R&R messed up on it and/or the alignment. basically what you have is for every xxx miles you drive forward you're dragging your car sideways x amount of miles. i'd have it check ASAP and ask about replacing the tire they caused you to mess up. you may want to take it to another shop and have them check the toe in, not change it, just check so you know if the work was done incorrectly.
