Strut Removal----Coil Springs

OK I am getting ready to replace my front struts now that I have redone the entire rear suspension(thanks STEVE SPOHN) I keep seeing that people say that you have to compress the coil spring. Why is this??? It does not seem close to the strut....... I NEED HELP...

I didnt have to, alls I did was jack the car up with a floor jack and then set it back down on jack stands. I placed the jack stands right under the control arm,(outer lip, towards the tires)and that was it. There was nothing to man. I just did mine yesterday. Look for my post about changing struts....the guys helped out alot....

Really theres nothing to it...

There is no need to compress the springs at all. The key thing is to support your control arm while removing the strut because that's the only thing that's going to hold that arm up, which holds your spring. Just put a jack under it and raise it enough to lift the arm and take the pressure off the strut so you can remove it. You do not have to remove your rotors, either. If you need step-by-step, let me know - glad to help.
