one side sits lower than the other?

Okay so when i bought my car in September last year the rear passenger side was sitting lower than the rest of the car. None of the sway bar links were hooked up, so i did that and it helped a little, but it still sags. I think the rear coil spring might be causing it but I'm not really sure.

Springs can be worn out, broken, not installed correctly......All causing a car to not sit correctly.

It'll take you getting under the car & looking at everything, to find out.

Drop the axle a bit, without ripping the rubber brake line, and yank the springs. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the pass side was broken.

Farfetched, but I suppose someone could have replaced the driver's side with a taller spring. If the pass side isn't broken, compare it with the driver's side.

Re: one side sits lower than the other?

its actually very common from what i've seen for the rear passengerside to be lower than the driverside. All the subframe and chassis measurements seen to be dead-nuts on, but maybe the spring perchs on that side ended up getting installed a little higher every so often on the assembly line.

I should look into that a little, my 92 is level in the rear, my 86 is not. maybe i can get a measurement.

Re: one side sits lower than the other?

the strange thing is, i have the exact same problem on my 1981 camaro. Could it happen if a car sat with a flat tire for a couple of years, i dont know if this would wear the spring out or not.

Got the same thing going on with my 88 and everything looks fine. You guys ever find out what's causing yours to do this?

Re: one side sits lower than the other?

My 86 IROC sits at about a half inch to a full inch lower on the passenger side... Maybe it's made this way so that when the driver sits in the car it equals out? I measured from the fender lip to the top of the tire that's where i got my measurements..

Don't think so because a friend that was riding behind me pointed it out. I'd never noticed before.
