9 bolt conversion, NEED HELP!!
9 bolt conversion, NEED HELP!!
I put in a 9 bolt rearend and i switched to 4 wheel disc breaks, i got the rearend with nothing on it (it calipers pads lines..) And i went to Autozone and got some new calipers and pads. I had a Break line to screw into the calipers and when id screw the line into the caliper itd never catch itd still spin and it would still drip fluid onto the ground. Someone told me that i need to get a "banjo nut" to screw into the caliper and then i screw the break line into the banjo nut which is screwed into the caliper. Anyone have any idea what im talking about, if so where the hall can i find this "banjo nut" at??
Thanks guys!!

i believe you need what they call european brake lines. the nuts have a unthreaded part that makes it longer and makes the seal differant.

Go to the wrecking yard and get the correct brake lines off another F-body or or do a little trial and era in the wrecking yard to see what else you find to work in its place. I do this all the time with various parts in the wrecking yard. By the way, when I got my Disc brake rear axle out of the wrecking yard I took all the lines all the way to the proportioning valve and I also snagged the entire rear suspension. I just piled it all up and had the fork lift driver load it all up as one peice and I then went in and paid for the "rear axle" he-he.
If you still want to adapt the lines you have now you can probably find the adapter you need at a supply store that deals in these types of brake-lines and fittings. One other option is to have the lines made by any of the many advertisers, in all the car mags, that specialize in this type of tubing.

LOW performance people should drive low performance vehicles!

I just had the same swap and my problem was the calipers have a metric thread and the car has a standard thread. I got some adapters and ran new lines. Easy fix. Works great.
I have a metric rear and an SAE car. When i did the swap, i just re-flared the lines where they connect to the rubber hose with SAE fittings. All you need is a flare kit and the fittings (both are inexpensive).
