Suspension on a Rally sport?

i have a 91 Rally sport, im just wondering what the suspension is like on these? Is it the same setup as the z28's or no? If not can i just buy some used z28 or iroc sway bars or whatever else makes the difference and bolt them right on or what?

The sway bars will be smaller, and the shocks wont be as good. The Z28's used a 34 or 36mm front sway bar, and 24mm rear sway bar. (at least, mine is a 36/24) My dad's RS has a 32/21 combo. We added 36/24 sway bars to it, and a wonder bar from an IROC. The stock springs are fine, unless you want to lower it with Eibach or Jamex springs. For shocks, you can go with KYB's for budget performance, or Bilsteins for middle of the road (they came stock on IROCs) or Konis for all-out handling.

Going up just a few millimeters in diameter will only be slightly noticeable. A bigger improvement, provided you already have decent sized sway bars(32/23 or better), would be to change all the end-link bushings to urethane. Next, I would install larger wheels and a good set of rubber all the way around.

Light weight 34.5mm stabilizer bar in front
23mm sta. bar in rear
rear lowered 1" by cutting 1 1/4 coils of '84Z28 springs
comp cam, flowmaster
TB coolantbypass/shutoff valve to heater core
MAT relocated
Ram-Air(home-made) gutted air-box
IROC ground effects/wheels GY245/50's
700R4 superior shift kit/ corvette servo(excellent shift kit BTW) Rebuilt engine and transplanted it myself. Love this engine!
LOW performance people should drive low performance vehicles!

The change from RS sway bars to Iroc or Pontiac WS6 sway bars was not minor for me. I had much better cornering ability. Also the 34 mm front sway bar is hollow and lighter than the lower performance solid RS front sway bar. The front sway bar and Wonder bar conbined still weighed less than my old RS one. I paid $12 for the front bar at a pick-a-part. If you are not changing over to urethane sway bar bushings, then remember to get the sway bar bushings from the donor car as well.
