borg warner rearend id question?
i just bought a borg warner rear disc rearend i dont know what the year is it has a id tag on it with a part number that reads p/n 10046603 what is this for under this number it says ratio 345 ser.n to the far right at the very bottom corner it has 7078 im tring to id this rearend so i can get calipers and brake cables and anything else i need to swap in place of a drum brake system

You can get either disc brakes. The year ranges are 84-88 for the iron calipers with 10.5" disc rotors. These have one brake caliper leading or front side and one on the rear or trailing side of the housing. The 89-92 version have both calipers leading and have PBR aluminum calipers and 11" rotors. They also have a superior design of caliper. Both versions will have backing plates that will bolt up to your housing. FYI, you could even change a drum brake BW 9-bolt over to disc brakes by getting the backing plates, brake lines & calipers. You will also need the correct emergency brake cables. They are different for each disc set-up and different than the drum brake rear end as well. If your car is 89 or newer the proportioning valve is the same for drum or disc brake rear. But 88 or older cars need a new proportioning valve. Good Luck, Lon.
