Can I replace the cast iron rear brake drums on my 1987 IROC with aluminuim drums? If so where are they availble and at what cost?
Is this a good swap?

 

yeah you can, look in junk yards at caprices, malibous, impalas from later 70s early 80s. not sure if any thirdgens came with them or not or if you can buy replacements. it'll save rotating weight. it's a good cheap and easy mod.

Napa and pepboys sells them about $60 a set. They caame on 84-86? At least that is the years I used to check for the parts.

the caprices have a 5x5 bolt pattern, the others are OK. My 84 L69 came with them.

 

mY 86 HAD A SET, I swapped in a disc rear and I still have the drums if you are intrested.
