painting my steering links?

Hey everybody, I just received all of my brand new Moog front end parts, including the idler arm, inner/outer tie rods, and center link. They're unpainted from the factory so I wanted to spray them black with Rustoleum enamel, but should I mask any parts off or just get at it? Is it bad if I get paint on the spindles/grease areas? sorry if this is a dumb question and yeah I searched. Thanks!

And another stupid question while I'm at it, how do I tell the inner and outer tie rods apart? I noticed that a pair have a grease hole on the bottom and another pair have a grease hole on the side.

Re: painting my steering links?

dont paint the rubber of the balljoints and dont paint the tapered studs or holes, tape them off. You dont want paint inside any of the connections, or on threads ect.

The outer rods will have the grease fitting on the bottoms (opposite of the taper). The inner rods will have the fittings on the end or side.

Re: painting my steering links?

im doing my parts from the tip of my left spendle to the tip of my right spindle in Gold Zink Plating $60.
even the steering box.

Gold Zink= think Milodon Oil Pan Color. rust proof to boot

can also get it in clear Zink (silver looking) But im sticking with the Gold. to match My oil Pan color

yes ill keep it away from the part that fit into other parts
