Should I?
Should I?
Hi all,
I found a donor 87 IROC at the junk yard and it's got quite a few good parts remaining.
I got the 145 mph speedo and some other goodies and then I saw the read disc brakes.
Hmmmmm...Should I swap the cast iron drums from my 84 z28 with these? Get aluminum drums, or just stick with what i've got. Brakes are probably one of my weaker tech areas so any input would be really helpful. Thanks

the rear disc aren't that good, but the 9 bolt rear would be stronger than what you have, but you're limited on gear ratios.

ede, how limited. more limited than I am right now? I'm still running my stock, carb, 305 and although the 350 isn't finished yet, even with my auto trans I can really light the tires up. Please tell me the IROC has more to offer and I'll grab it. Like I said it's a poor mans schmorgesborg, I think the only thing missing from the car was the keys.

The 87 will probably have 3.27 gears in it. You can get 3.45 and if you look around, you can also find 3.70. That's all the choices you'll have for better gears and they're not cheap.
Nothing wrong with the 3.27's. My best times (below) were all with the 3.27 gears.
