Edelbrock Strut Bar Sucks!!!!
I have an '89 GTA TPI with a stock hood and I got the Edelbrock strut bar for Christmas and I put and on, it fit perfect until I tried to close the hood, and it wouldn't close. The part # is 5226 which sould be the right one. I'm pissed off about this, you guys talk wounders about these and now that finaly have one it doesn't fit. I tried to call Edelbrock but there to busy to take my call. I don't know if a different brand will fit. Even when the bar sits right on the plenm the hood still doesn't close. The car has never been in a wreck. Let me know what you guys think I'm out of ideas.

Try removing the hoodliner, if you already haven't. If not, then make sure the 2 bars that go back to the firewall are mounted to the bottom of the main cross brace. If that does'nt work then get out the die-grinder.
I have installed several, most seem to go on o.k., but there was a tricky one that required a bit of modification to get it to fit. Not sure whether it was the car or the STB that was the problem. If you can't get it to fit, then you may want to try to get it exchanged. Maybe it was just a bad one???

I had the exact same ****ing problem... Only noticed after I slammed the hood. I just had to rubber malet the damn thing down and tighten it up real good. Mine what right on the unit...at least really close. Loading up the engine would make it bump up into it... but it did work really well. My .02

the 3 point edelbrock worked great on my car. No problems, even after 2 years it's still an interferance fit. It feels like I could honestly pick the whole car up with it. Okay, so what is the problem? Sorry to hear you guys are having so much trouble. Good luck figure it out. If I could help I would but it just seems like this is only for venting anti-edelbrock.
