lower chassis brace?

I was on the Kenny Brown web site and saw their lower chassis brace. http://www.kennybrown.com/fbodylbrace.html

I am really not sure where this goes. Do any of you guys have it? Is it worth the money. Pics would be great. thanks

Looks like it might be a "wonder bar", connects the front frame together. They bolt in between the front sway bar and the frame. Or it might go under the transmission if it isn't a wonder bar, similliar to the G-load brace for the 4ht gen cars. If you look some more you can find a winder bar for about 40 or 50 at Global West I think.

It looks like the Wonder Bar. You can get them new from GM for like $30. I just installed a GM one on my car (after I painted it).

I also did a tech article on installing it. If you are curious, check it out. W Bar Install

That bar connects the frame together right behind the motor, it is not a wonder bar, I was wondering myself if it was worth it.

I have the GW wonder bar and the KB lower chassis brace. Bang for the buck and improvement in front-end stiffness, GW bar by far. I did the KB brace at the same time as SFCs, but I didn't notice much from it. Slighly better power transfer at high revs.

Does that thing work like a STB? which is better to get. With a STB does it get in the way when working on the car? Thats my main concern! Which of the 2 would be better for me? Thanks.

It doesn't work like a STB. An STB noticeably stiffens the front end, improving steering response and eliminating front end movement over wavy pavement. The lower chassis brace only deals with acceleration. It prevents the tranny tunnel from flexing, improving slightly power transfer to the rear wheels.

$100 for that darn thing. What are they thinking, it looks like it's no more than $20 worth of metal at most and maybe 15 minutes at most for the cuts and welds. $100 I could build one in an hour and probably be much happier with it. I don't understand really why we need the brace since the frame is now tied together with the firewall which is plenty stiff. Looks like a waste of money and weight. Get in order: SFC, LCA, Panhard, and a STB, maybe even a roll cage if you are hardcore.
