I need a little 1LE brake help

I am retro fitting my '82 Z28 w/1LE front brakes, and other stuff. I found a set of new loaded front calipers that have been on a shelf for a long time. but the little spring clip that goes onto the pads is missing from one of them. I only need one of these little clips. Does anybody out there have an extra clip from a set of old brake pads. I tried the mfg with no luck. Thanx,ANDYZ28

Hey, I did that a while ago, except I used all new parts... the clips you are talking about (2 per pad, 4 per caliper) are sold with the pads themselves. I lost one and nearly bought another set of pads to borrow the spring from. That should work for you.

FWIW, the pads I used were AC Delco Durastop.

BTW, since the calipers are "pad-guided", missing pad springs WILL cause the caliper to klunk when first applying the brakes. I chased that for months. Also, be SURE to put the calipers and brackets on the correct side, I had mine backwards which didn't help.

AFAIK, the caliper is seated in the top of the bracket and then the bottom is rotated in.

You really need two springs per pad. Otherwise the brakes will clunk. The guy that knocked it down to 1 per pad probably didn't know this.

I did that to mine, and they klunked, so I ended up putting the second spring back on all the pads.
