What are Lift Bars?

In the Jegs catalog, page 139...there is something called a "Traction...Action Lift Bars" made for 82-98 Camaros/Firebirds (part number 620-21700 $192.99) I saw an episode of Hotrod TV where they were installing these.....I was wondering what exactly these things do, are they worth the money, and will they benefit anything in a street driven stock car...that will eventually get a 350 in it. It actually kinda looks the opposite of Steve Spohns LCA Relocation brackets. I am planning on getting the Steve Spohn LCAs, lowering the car, and getting the TT II 17X9.5 rims. What do you guys think, and will I have enough room with the new rims? Thanks

Lift bars push up on the frame after a large amount of power is applied. They are suppose to transfer the energy through the frame so that you cn get it back after the car has left the line. They work great for drag use but cause the car to act very wierd under hard street cornering. Think about how it would feel to romp on the throttle while turning and feel the rear "lift" on you. That is probobly why most guys run good aftermarket controll arms instead.

Im putting some on my car today so ill let ya know how they handle on the street. i was wondering that myself. they are pretty much just new control arms with a lifting system on them. when power is applied to the axle, the lift bars lift up the chassis to put more weight onto the rear axle, planting the tires. Thats how they work. im gona go out on a limb and say that they wont let you corner as well as the stock setup, but camaros are built for drag racing
