Think I may have bought a 1LE rear axle.. please confirm

Hey guys, a while back I had a call responding to an ad I placed looking for a 3.23 or above rear axle for my IROC. Cutting a long story short, went to pick it up and found the calipers on the axle are finned, also I'm sure I counted 9 bolts..... Have I unearthed Gold here, or amI just getting over excited?

1LE's have the same rear axle as every other 89-92 TPI car... What year is it from?

They didn't even have 1LE's back in 85. That rearend is probably just a 9 bolt Borg Warner with PBR brakes off an 89-92 car.

So just how good is a Borg Warner unit? Bullet proof??

It's better than an F-body 10-bolt, but not as bulletproof as a 12-bolt or 9".
