new 3rd gen owner question

I just got my 5.0L automatic convertible about 3 months ago and feeling the need to improve upon its power. So I am doing some research so don't flame me just yet. What is a wonderbar ? I know what the SFC is and will be getting that welded in when weather starts agreeing with me. Since thirdgen resource is just an hour away, I am going to get the complete 10 bolt 3:23 disc rear from them to save some $$ and not messing with my leaky wheel cylinders and warped brake drummed open diff unit. But this wonderbar thing I don't know about.

It's a bar that connects ties the front subframe together. I know where your coming from, since I just entered the world of thrid gens not too long ago. I believe it goes from the subframe to the steering box, and was standard equipment on the IROCs. Do a search for Wonderbar in this forum (up at the top of the page), and you'll find threads devoted to the wonderbars, and with pictures and everything...

Yes, there are plenty of posts about it. I recently added one to my car (the front subframe was cracked by the steering box), and it really tightened things up up there. If you haven't seen it yet, try going to http://sethirdgen.org/wbar.htm. That is an article in the sethirdgen.org technical articles. Oh yeah, welcome to thirdgens!

The wonder bar isused to add support for your front end, but it's primary use is this; steering boxes are bolted to your front frame, per say, and at slow hard turns, the box has been known to rip right of it's mounts. I have a 92 RS and my car didn't come with one, but I'm going out tomorrow and buy one.I hear you can pick one up at your local dealer for abot $30 or $40.Ther's a post a little further down the page that has all the particulars. Check it out

Ok guys I know what a wonderbar is and I sent my wife to the Chevy dealer this morning to order one. Next problem is, I am having difficulty finding SFC's that will fit my convertible which moans and groans when I stomp on the whimpy stock TBI 5.0 now. Before I mess with that motor I want to get the rest of this thing in shape. I tried the quick power route with my truck and tore the rearend out twice at the track. Doesn't feel good to push your ride off the track in front of an audience.
