Need cheap solution for my RS

Wasap everybody!! I have a 89 RS with stock suspension. It drives like a boat ... very loose on the turns and starts to feel unstable around 75-80 mph (going straight over uneven road). I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a cheap solution to make the car feel more stable?? I dont plan to go fast (or take turns fast) and I really dont want to drop the car (cops like to mess with dropped cars here). Someone I asked recommended new polyeutherane (sp?) bushings and new shocks. I would like to keep this as cheap as possible because I want to save all my cash for a real suspension upgrade on my next project 92 car. Would just putting new bushings make it feel more stable when im driving??? Thanks for the help guys!!! (and girls!!)

You may need an alignment. I too have an 89 RS, and it feels rock solid all the way up to and over 90 MPH, except for vibes that I know are caused by the stock steel driveshaft. The alignment would be the first thing I'd have checked.

As far as the polyurethane bushings go, it will tighten up the ride a little, but make it a little rougher. The polyurethane is more dense than the stock rubber and will prevent things from moving around so much in the suspension, leading to a tighter feel, better handling, and possibly a little harsher ride.

Transmission: fixed the 700r4 again!
i would say KYb-gr2 struts and shocks and some new bushings for the suspension. that will help. you could also just buy stock replacement springs at a local parts store. they shouldnt lower the car any.
