tire rub and speedo gear.

I have installed 245-50-16's on my 85 Z28. It had 15 inch alloys origionally. The right tire hits the control arm and the left has minor rubbing. I see that there is a different steering stop for 16 inch wheels. I want to know if I can just weld a small tab on the existing one, and if so how much? Second question is about the speedo grears. I saw the posted answers to this delema and have a question of my own. I have 3.23's now and have 3.73's for it. I would like to know if the drive gear is already the right one. I looked up the driven gear at the GMC dealer I worked for at the time. I went by tire diameter and gear size. I ordered it and am looking for it in my pile to see if I did good. thanks, Mike

That tire rub won't hurt a thing. Unless you drive in circles at full lock constantly.
