I NEED A CHEAP BRAKE UPGRADE!!
My brakes really stink. That's all I can say. I have disc front and drum rear brakes. I want a cheap but effective brake upgrade. In a perfect world I'd give Baer a call and order an all around vented disc brake upgrade kit, but alas, I'm on a tight budget. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't really wanna go through the hassle of replacing the rear drums, but a nice front brake kit under like $600 would be awesome. Thanks for your input.

A cheap upgrade would be new pads like the PF Carbon Metallics or the new A/C Delco Durastop pads, plus a set of braided stainless steel brake hoses to firm up the pedal feel. The rear drums work very well when they're adjusted properly and aren't gunked up. I clean mine (all of the hardware inside) with a can of brake cleaner every once in a while.
Oh, the best upgrade would be front 1LE brakes, but it'll be a little more than $600 unless you can find a set used. I bought mine (including the spindles) for $500 and just needed new brake hoses.

Okay, I'm now scared to drive in your town. (No flame/badthing/u-stupid intended). The words "brakes" and "cheap" should never be used together. U'r life as well as the car's depend on NON-failing brakes. GM didn't give them much power, but has anybody's STOCK brakes suddendly failed in the middle of traffic?? I've heard of calipers cracking and rotor falling to pieces(on imports, but still...) Save $$ and get good ****. I could cross-drill my own rotors for nothin', but they'll probably crack within a day or two. Brakes are an exacting science, and they cost money to produce RELIABLE brakes.
Sorry bout the lecture. I have a permenant shoulder injury because somebody ghetto'ed there brakes and they failed.
