Not just about thirdgen (firstgen) parts interchange

I know this sounds really out of place but does anybody know if a thirdgen front sway bar can fit on a 69? Is the thirdgen bar wider? Can the endlink locations and bushing mounts be made up to fit?
The reason I'm asking this is because my friends wants a larger front bar but doesn't have the money but he does't have trouble coming up with custom fab parts.
Also what are some steering box options for him? He doesn't like the power steering, he's like a manual box but like I said, he is on a really tight budget. Links to some other pages would be really helpful too. Thanks

being the owner of a 1st and 3rd gen you'd think i'd know this stuff. i think the 3rd gens PS pump, and stearing box will work on a 1st. the sway bar i don't think will work, but i'm not sure. if you don't get an answer shoot an e mail my way letting me know and i'll go look and pull a tape on them and see if i can figure it out.

I have the thirdgen bar in front of me but I'd like to know what the 1st gen bar demensions are.
So if a 3rd gen PS pump and box work on a 1st gen then wouldn't the 85-90 s10 manual boxs also fit? I also know that the front suspension on the 1st gens are like the early Novas so are these all interchangable?
My friend really wants a manual steering box and a better front bar. His stock bar is 11/16, that's smaller than my stock REAR bar. I know that the 1st gens don't need a rear bar if the suspension is all in check. The leaf springs are good for that. I'd just like to see him with my old front sway bar.

Sorry, my 68 is across the river at a friends, or else I would go out and compare because I have a couple extra 34's. If I go there this weekend, I'll see if I can compare unless ede beats me too it.

yep no reason a s10 box wouldn't work, if what i heard is correct. i checked my 68, it's a ss 396 so i'd guess it has the best, biggest parts on it. the diameter is only 3/4" span is 50" and it angles forward about 5". i did this without anyone to hold the tape so i may be off a little and i never jacked it up to get a real good view.

Well the thirdgen bar is 44" span so I guess it's out of the question. Thanks for the help ede.
