1st & 2nd Design E-Brake cables

I am doing a rear end swap on a 92 Firebird from a 10 bolt with 2:73 and drum brakes to a 9 bolt with 3:27 and disk brakes with the performance package. I went to the local Pontiac dealer to order the left and right E-Brake cables and they show two for my car. A 1st design, which is about 1.5 inches longer then the 2nd design. The only thing they told me was that I had to measure the old ones to get the right new ones. I don't have any to measure. Does anybody know any other difference in the cables? Is the 2nd design better, or did they redesign it shorter to stop rubbing somewhere? I hate to order the wrong one, once I order it, it's mine.

I did the same thing with the GTA. The E-brake cables are different depending what type of rear disk brakes that you got, either the older GM style 10" rotors from 82-88 or the PBR aluminum caliper 11" rotors from 89-92. The cables are not interchangeable.
Order the cables for the type of brakes you got. You can also order them from a NAPA store for about $15 each which is probably a lot less than the dealer.
