Please help
Just had my 9 bolt borg warner sandblasted. While doing the blasting, they bent and cracked one of the backing plate/dust shields on the end's of the axle tube.
Does anyone know the part number of these parts and are the still available from GM. It is a disc rear from a 89' so it has the 12" brakes. Any help please.

Just rip them off. Both sides.
They don't really do anything, except get in the way, and G.M. eliminated them in 1990, anyway, if that tells you anything.
They should come off fairly easy, they are only held on to the caliper mounting bracket with tiny spot welds, so just work at them with a good sized screwdriver, or an air chisel if you have one and say adios to those little pieces of shaet!
Have fun!

Thank's. That is easy enough. I didn't know they did that in 90'. I have heard parts are somewhat hard to find for these and I was scared I wouldn't find those things. I have your tech article on the servicing of the limited slip units. I can't wait to put it in the car. Thank you for the help.
