FREAKIN BRAKES!!!

How the hell do you do this??????

Ok, I'm trying to change my front pads and I took the caliper off but I can't back the piston off so the new pads will fit over the disk, what am I missing here??????? Is the piston froze??? Do I need a new caliper??

Take the top off the brake reservoir and siphon some of the fluid out with a turkey baster (syringe with sucky bulb), then compress the caliper piston using the old pad and a large C-clamp. It should slide right back into the bore, allowing you to put the new pads on!

Hope this helps!

I bought a remanufactured set of calipers from Pep Boys and had the same thing happen right outta the box, I couldn't get the piston all the way in.

Can you say bad caliper?

Dude, you can get a special caliper piston tool for like $6 from any auto store. The part about the reservoir cap removal is right on.

You're supposed to open the bleeder screw when you compress the piston back into the caliper.

Go out and buy one of those nifty Chilton books

The special tool does the same thing as a c-clamp or a pair of channel locks.

hey guys i did all of the above. and my brake pedal is SOO Mushy. i even changed rotors and calipers, put decent pads on, bled the brakes and put a new flex hose on one side. and they are now worse than when i bought the car, they take forever to grab, and the pedal is almost to the floor. what should i do.
i know this isnt correct since my friends 92Z as soon as you touch his brakes, they start to grab but mine, they just linger till you really slam it down. i hate it, any ideas,

if it doesnt get any better, i am just gonna go and this winter buy the BAER track system with 6 piston calipers, and aluminum rotors. i hate this.

also thought of the 1LE system, but parts are so scarce now. oh i will see what you guys have to say!
