Cheap Suspension Upgrade
Cheap Suspension Upgrade
I would like to swap out the suspension and/or the steering system to gain the best handling. What car should I be looking for? I have found a 85 Berlinetta, would that do? When I do I am going to put lowering springs and shocks. Should I worry about bumpsteer for an inch of drop?
Thanx,

Hey,
you're probably not gonna like this but...Start with a complete suspension and steering rebuild. An '85 is gonna be worn out (most likely) and anything else you throw at it will just accentuate the sloppy old parts. Make sure you get it to a good baseline before throwing part/money at it.
that's my $.02

1983 Z28, NO T-tops, (unfortunately) Auto Transmission (hopefully not for long)

I'd have to agree with Clem.
I think that bringing an older car back its original spec will provide more noticable gains than swapping in used parts from another car.
There are things you can do though. Like if you change out the steering box you can get a faster ratio than stock even without having to chase down one of the IROC quick ratio boxes.
Begin with a good base and then make one change at a time so you'll whether it worked or not.
