Help! Aftermarket center caps won't fit!

I just tried putting my new Konig rims on and they center caps don't fit with over the grease caps on the front. Anybody run into this problems before? Any suggestions?

Konig told me they don't make any wheels in the proper backspacing for our cars. I notice you said in another post that they sold you those in a 20mm offset and it was "close". Maybe it wasn't close enough? What is the backspacing? (Not the offset) Put a yardstick across the back of the rim and use a tape measure and measure from the mounting pad directly to the yardstick above it and give that measurement in inches.

If the fit is really close, maybe you can have the centercap machined down enough to clear. Or you could dimple or modify the dust cap, or a combination of the two. Try fitting the wheel with the dust-cap removed from the hub.

I hope you didn't already mount the tires so you can return the wheels if nothing else works out for you.

By the way, JDWheels will sell you wheels whether or not they know it will fit your car. I bought my wheels from them against everyone's insistance that a 17x9 wheel will not fit in the front and that I should use a 17x8.

Of course, I have no complaints against JDWheels, only the best words for them. I got excellent service, and it was at my house in only five days during Christmas week!. Plus they included the valve stems, lugnuts and locking nuts at no additional charge.

Ok, I just measured them and they have a 5.25 inch backspacing. I went to the parts store and got a set of 7/16 spacers (the slip on kind) and now the center cap clears the dust cap. I put the bare rim on and they look like they line up with the fender as close to perfect as it gets, so I'm happy with that. Then I realized that the lug studs weren't long enough so I'm gonna get new ones that are about 1/2 to 3/4 inch longer and I should be all set. And by the way, they're only 129ea.

Glad to hear it. Be sure to post a pic showing how they look. I generally stay away from spacers, but that's just personal preference.
