Brake Recommendation

I took my 86 to the shop and the mechanic told me that I need a whole new system. He said everything would total about $1100. The thing is that I dont plan on driving this car much longer because it needs alot of work, and I dont have much money. But do you guys & gals have any recommendations for brakes.

Do you have disc front and rear?

Is it a 1LE package? (dual piston calipers - front)

I got two rear rotors and pads at Pep Boys for less than 150 bucks.

Lemme know

$1100 sounds a bit steep. I checked out how much it would cost for a complete new brake system(parts only) for my 92 rs and it was like about $300 without booster or drums. It shouldn't take all that much labor to replace the parts. Where did you get this estimate from? Sears? Just Brakes?

Hell, for that price I could go Baer. What does "whole new system" include?

"whole new system" probably includes labor.

Don't pay that much man!! if youplan in ditching the car, replace the rotors, calipers, and hoses and call it good. Those parts shouldnt run you half as much as that OUTRAGEOUS quote. I had a "free" brake inspection done, and the guy said he could get me back on the road for $900, then gradually lowered his price when I said I wasn't interested...great service...NOT!!!

Im just gonna do the front for now. All I need to get now is rotors. Im looking for some now, but I may go to a junkyard for a new rear. Thanks for all your help.
