I'm also trying to figure out an annoying sound, which may be the same problem as stormshadows. The front 'creaks' fairly loudly under braking and lately it also creaks when driving over bumps too.
The struts are almost brand new, and I had them off yesterday to check for any problems. They seemed fine. I also replaced the brake pads which didn't help any either. The handling, steering, and braking all seem to be working fine.
The strut tower bearings sound like a good place to start. Any other suggestions???
