DOT 3 bought in the smallest containers you can buy. this stuff is "hygroscopic" (something like that) meaning it attracts water from the ambient air. Water in the brakes is a bad thing (boiling points, compressability, etc). I say get it in small quantities, because once you open it, you should realistically use it immediately and then discard what's left. you can keep it a little longer, but it's all about how perfect you want to keep your brake system...
don't mix DOT3 and DOT 5 either
