Quick question about suspension work

My friend's brother-in-law is going over my whole car and so far came up with these problems.

Motor mounts, tranny mounts, brakes, brake lines, something about the calipers, struts in the front, springs all the way around, bushings, and a few more things i can't remember. anyway, i gave him $400 already, and he says now he needs $300 more. does that sound right? roughly, what would it cost to get this kind of work done? is he giving me a deal at all? thank you.

$300 more - for parts or labor? Caliper and pads are about $60, struts are about $80, springs are about $40 a pair, bushings are about $125 for poly's - for the whole car, tranny mount is about $30, motor mounts (?), and a few other things (?)... It depends on where he's getting them, and what all you really need, what quality...

That doesn't sound too bad to me. To keep going engine frame mounts $50 Shocks in the rear $40 If he does all four brakes the right way, that could cost $250 after he's done. Plus all of stuff is a pain in the a$$, especially the suspension, because the strut bolts were installed at like 200 ft-lbs and have been rusted on. Drum brakes are a pain too unless you do it every day. Running new brake line is also very time consuming. If someone offered to do all of the 100,000 mile maintainance on my car for $700 I'd jump on it. All the stuff we've listed so far comes to $655. Just think about what at least $20/hr tacked on would look like.
