STB...it just can't fit it in my engine bay!!!!
Does anyone else have this problem?
I have posted this question here before, but I still can't seem to make it fit. Even if I remove the hood insulation and rest the bar on top of my intake, I still can't shut my damn hood! Could my engine be mounted too high? I know it is not the tower mounts, or the firewall mounts, because like I said even if i rest the bar on top of my intake, laying riht across the "Tuned Port Injection" plate, with no hood insulation, I still can't shut my hood.....
Any ideas???

My car is a 91 Trans Am GTA....stock engine.....305 TPI
The STB is an Edelbrock that is made to fit in the third gen years, up to 1992.
Following a few suggestions I tried moving the center mount point, the one near the firewall, to mount below the metal there. But that didn't give me any clearance. Then when I simply laid the main brace section across my intake, I still can't close the hood......

Wow, a strut tower brace with a "bonus" engine-cooling mod! What a deal! (not)
How close is your hood to closing? There are a few rubber bumpers that you could adjust to raise the hood higher, if you're only 1/4-1/2 inch away from closure. Two are by the headlights. Two are on the frame bar above the radiator. Two are on the base of the hinges, at the back of the hinges. (You'll probably get the most adjustment from those.) And one lies at the back center of your hood. You might be able to just get away with raising the back. Just be sure to mark the threads of each adjuster with some white-out! That way, in case you can't get the hood high enough, you can at least return your hood to it's original height.
Or, it could be, that Edelbrock never designed their STB to fit under the sloping hood of a Firebird... just for a Camaro. In that case, call Edelbrock and chew 'em out for me!
