Steering question... pls help....
I've got an 84 Z-28 with a steering problem. It has tilt steering and if you grab the top of the steering wheel you can move it all around( Like when you're using the tilt but you don't have to actuate the arm ). I've taken it in to the dealer once ( years ago ) and they told me they had to tighten four bolts up. Does anyone happen to know where those bolts are??? I'd like to know before i start ripping stuff apart.... Thank you

If you are not a mechanic I don't recommend you do this yourself. You need to pull the steering wheel and dig rather deep into your column. If you lived down here I'd do it for free. I would bring it to a repair shop and let them do it. The four bolts have a special head on them, you would need an inverted torx socket (not sure what size, maybe a 4) with a 1/4" ratchet w/ extension. Even this way you would only get to three of the 4. If it a persistant promblem, like it loosens up again in a couple of days, you would need a new or junk yard column.

Well.... I'm an aircraft mechanic. I don't really work on cars a whole lot. Does this job just require a good sense of mechanical inclination or is this a job that should be left for an auto mech? My vagueness in the question is because my Z is stored at my parents place which is a ways from where I live so I can't just go out and take a look at it. I'm making provisions to get it up here but that's not for a few months and was wondering if I could do this myself or not. Would it help to Loctite the bolts in place??? to keep them from backing off again??? Thank you for replying

With the right tools and some mechanical inclination you shouldn't have much trouble.
