Spindels Vs. Springs

how much better ,if any are 2" drop spindels over 2" drop springs.

is the added cost justified??

I'd say the spindles are better. Drop springs have reduced spring travel due to the shorter height. With drop spindles the springs still have full travel. Drop springs also change the steering geometry by moving the lower a-frame closer to the frame.

Definitely go with the spindles. You maintain all the factory suspension and steering geometry and travel. I'm not much on the lowered look myself, but if it's your thing, go for it!

One more thing about drop springs. Not only due they decrease travel, but they are also much stiffer. You will be riding on bricks. They have to make them that way to reduce travel so that the stock suspension doesn't bottom out.

Stiffer drop springs make it handle the corners better. Spindles will keep the same ride. I sacrificed the nice ride for much improved handling. It's a trade off.

i am doing dropped spindles soon, and i wish i could find stock size springs that were stiffer. i thought about buying new IROC springs from GM, but have decided against it.

and definately go with spindles man, its a cleaner drop and you dont have to worry about your struts bottoming out also since you will be lessening there travel by two inches.

What does it take to change out spindles? Doesn't seem like a hard job...

In short... lowering springs bring you better handling and lowering spindles bring you the looks?

EDIT: Also, what do you all suggest for the rear? Where can you find just the rear springs that will lower the rear so it will be even with the front. All the lowering spring packages that I've seen so far are the four set or the front two...

With the stiffer springs, the front shouldn't bottom out(I haven't for 4 years and the roads around here are terrible).
You probably want a stock spring rate short spring for the rear--no idea where to get some. A rear lowering spring will be stiffer. Combine that with stock front springs and it may handle a little funny. The springs should really be 'matched'.

just to put my .02 in, i just finished doing my whole front end, put a set of moog oem style springs in and the thing looks like a monster truck now. the front end sits rediculously high, so i think i'm gonna put a set of drop springs in there in a few weeks. the rear springs are only a year old, maybe 15-20k on them and the front is sitting higher, it looks so gay...just something to consider

ok, so lowering springs, keep the same "smooth" (LOLOLOL) Feel.
and then lowering springs, tighten up ride, but boost performance,
so what about, lowering springs and spindels?
and how hard is install of spindels, because i like the idea of spindels more now, and then just replace shocks,

THis TOPIC , is great, Xactly one of my questions, thanx guys...

This may sound a bit stupid... if you put 2" lowering springs and 2" drop spindles together... would you get 4 inches of drop? Or it all depends on how much drop you get from the spindles? Like in the example above, you'll get 2 inches drop no matter what kind of springs... Just don't know exactly how it works out...

2 inch springs and 2 inch spindles will give you 4 inches of drop--quite a bit on an f-body.

How much does it increase your turning circle?

Lowering springs give the car really bad, uh, bump steer, I believe the term is. I know that when I hit the lumpies on an on or off ramp, it's kinda scary. This has to do with the lower control arm geometry, I think. Mine is lowered 1.5". I'd put drop spindles on it instead, but I don't want it lowered 2", cant get a jack under it as easy then. Belltech makes the drop spindles. They sell a set of rear springs with the kit. And by just lowering the center of gravity your car will have handeling benefits, even if your springs are the stock spring rate.
