Question about shocks

I have a 91 Z28. It has the stock suspenion. My rear shocks are shot and i need to replace them. I would like to know what a good replacement would be for something comparable to the stock ones or better. I am kind of on a budget here. Any suggestions are appreciated.

On a side note. what is the easiest way to determine the size of the front/rear sway bar?

Thanks,
Steve

KYB's are pretty good shocks for what you have to give for them. Check them out in Summit.

Monroe shocks are pretty good and affordable. You can measure the sway bar with a wrench to get the size. If you don't have big wrenches then use a big adjustable and then measure the opening.

if your on a budget get monroe; if you want the best then buy bilstein; although a lot of people seem to like kyb's. I've ridden in cars done with the 5 way kyb's and i use to have monroe before i threw them out for the bilsteins......best money i ever spent. can't say enough about them.

I'd like to go with the KYB's too, but aren't they soggy since they're gas shocks & struts? Or would they still give a really firm ride?

What's with the KYBs? Are they good because of the firm performance-orientated ride? What is it?

I have the KYB's and I like them fine. They're more firm than the factory shocks and struts but not harsh.Don't perform as well as Konis or Bilsteins, but for the money, I think they're hard to beat.I drive my car pretty hard most of the time and they've held up really well.I don't think you'll find a better all-around shock/strut than the KYB
for under $200/set.
