new hawk black front pads !!!!!
I installed Hawk black front pads. all I can say is holy sh*t!!! My car stops like never before. I actually locked em up on the highway for the first time in 12 years !!!! and that is with Kumho race rubber !!!
this is only my first impression, and I don't know how streetable the are as of yet. I brought them for the track, so I don't know if I will keep them in after the track event, but boy, do they work. no fade what so ever !!
This is with the smallish rotors in the front.
the rear still has street pads on the big 89 rear disks. I havn't decided yet if I should go with Hawk black rear pads for my first RR event. probably not neccessary, but any comments are welcome. I don't want the rear out stopping the front. that's why I'm leaning to leaving street pads in the rear. but any comments are welcome.

I tried them. The back squealed like the brakes on a garbage truck. I was told you need a fresh cut rotor surface, but I just put the stock pads back on the rear. The rotors were still in good shape and I figured the Hawks were just overkill back there anyway. The fronts did stop better (tried them at a Watkins Glen driving school too) but I found them to be extremely dusty and they grab a lot if not up to temperature. I would recomend them for track events but not the street. Probably gonna sell the ones I have.

I guessing you have the pre-89 rear disk, and the standard fronts...
I too found them very dusty, and noisy but I only put 20 miles on them. They should work great for the track, well see.
I can't imagine trying the hawk blues. I know a few people who use blues on the track, and they love them. but I think they switch back to street pads for the ride home.

Ok, so it looks like the Hawk pads are pretty good pads for the track. What kind/color pads would be good for the street that would not give you wiplash everytime you stop.
thanks,
Jesse

they have 2 street pads
"HPS" &
"HPS Plus"
I havn't tried them yet, but I plan too.
I've tried PF street pads, and they don't work at all. at least for me.

Larry,
I'm getting ready to try the HP Street pads on my Mom's vette ('79). I'll let everyone know what happens. If you or anyone else knows what the HP + pads are like, let me know, 'cause that is what I'm most likely to use on the 84...
