New Springs without lowering
I have a '88 IROC-Z, see sig. below with 150K+ miles on it. I am planning on replacing the struts and shocks with KYB's, GR2's up front and Gas-a-just out back. I also plan on replacing my bushings with energy susp. stuff and while I had it all apart replacing my springs. I like the stock ride height and really do not want to go any lower because my front end lip already scrapes enough as it is. I want a spring that is a little softer but will not lower or raise my car any. I have heard Eibach makes some of the best stuff for our cars and that direct replacement springs for my car are some of the stiffest around. Does anyone know of some springs for my situation? I think the springs by Eibach offer variable rate handling or something like that which what helps them perform so well. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

honestly, i found that the eibach springs add more stiffness only in situations where it's needed........ie: braking and turning.
really the ride is in your shocks and spring combo together. personally i'm using eibach's with bilstien shocks and struts and it rides like a cady and performs like a newer vette when needed. my car has a 3-2 drop and it's low, but i like it!
you have to remember it's a sports car and it's not going to have that true plush ride; but if you update things that need it everything should work out the way you want it.

Thanks for the info. I guess a 1-1.5 inch drop would not be too bad and I know my car is not ever going to be a plush ride but I know it can be alot better than what it is now. What did you pay for your shocks?
remember this too......... if your car has the original equipment, it's already at the lowered height that your new lowered springs will be. usually from wear they sag low or if not lower than what a lowering spring will do.
as far as the combo.
pro-kit was around $245 that's a 1-1.5 drop.
sportline is around $230 and it's 1.5-2 drop.
I found lingenfelter to have the lowest price on the bilstein setup and it was around $400. being about $100 or so more than KYB's and twice that of monroe setup.
it may sound like a lot; but i can't tell you enough about how well the car rides. my buddy has a 01 SS and it's ride doesn't compare.

I did not realize that the new springs would be the same as my old ones. Yes, my car has all the orignal stuff on it, I just was not sure if Eibach made a set springs for the IROC's or if they where just for 82-92 F Body's. I think I will go with the Pro-Kits and KYB's though. I have a friend in my car club that has the same setup only his car is lowered a little and it rides great. I will keep the Bilsteins in mind though. Thanks for all the info.
