Rear drums dragging on one wheel

About a week ago, something must have seized the drivers side drum brake assy. It got real hot (read: smoking) on my way home and i took it apart. I jacked it up and ran it at around 20 mph and found that the drivers side tire would just sit and jerk a little, while the pass. side would be spinning freely (on a posi rear). I checked all the brake linkages, and replaced the ebrake cable when i found it was seized. The new cable seemed as though it would work properly, but something is still causing the brakes to drag. Is there something i missed that should be adjusted or could something else cause this problem.
thanks
jeff

EDIT:
Also, after i put the brakes back together after being apart and on stands for a few days, i had a loud clunking, fairly rhythmic, and strong enough to feel. It sounded ilke it was from the middle or front. Its not a transmission mount kind of clunk, because its speed-related and at regular intervals ~1 per second @ 25 mph.
any help on that one?

i'd replace the springs and related hard wear. clean everything up and reassemble and see if the problem doesn't go away.

Re: Rear drums dragging on one wheel

Silly question probably....did you recently lower the car?

After I had mine on stands with them under the rear (normal ride height), I discovered that my e-brake cable was on top of the TQ arm...every time I hit a decent bump, it activated my e-brakes a little...that's why I'm asking.
