clearance for spohn SFC?

I have edelbrock headers and y-pipe and an edelbrock catback exhaust the cat is very close to the cat but I don't think it hits but the SFC does hit my edelbrock y-pipe. my fix was to shove some rubber hose in between the SFC and y-pipe. I have an 86 sport coupe.

and it didn't melt it?!?! Is there some new space age rubber I don't know about? 
I've tried MAC sub frames and those didn't fit so I want to make sure I don't waste my money again. If someone has some dimentions I would appriciate it. Thanks.
