Ongoing Vibration.........PLEASE HELP!

Is there a way to tell if there is something wrong with the steering box? I'm having a vibration at certain speeds. The steering wheel shimmies from side to side. I feel it in the steering wheel and at certain speeds it goes away then it seems like a driveline vibration, causing the whole car to shake. I've changed the wheel bearings and ball joints. I changed the tie rods about 1 1/2 years ago. They aren't sloppy when you grab them and try to twist them back and fourth. I've also changed the control arm bushings. I'm not sure if there could be something wrong inside the steering box where the linkage hooks up to it, causing the steering linkage to move back and fourth. Sometimes it feels suspension related and then sometimes it feels like somethings out of balance. I've changed rear ends, new balanced wheels, driveshaft. Not sure if a bad stall converter will cause symptoms like I'm having. I've taking the car to 2 tranny shops and they say it is good. Another shop couldn't tell me anything. I've checked the harmonic balancer and it looks good from what I can tell. I'm not sure what to do next and don't want to dump a bunch of uneccesary money into it. Thanks for any help!!

Re: Ongoing Vibration.........PLEASE HELP!

I've put new 17" wheels with michelin pilot sports and also some new 19" with nexus tires and 16" with road hugger tires. Same vibration with all sets. My transmission went out on me the other day on my way home from work. Maybe something in the tranny internal was causing the vibration. I just had it rebuilt by a guy that works at the GM dealership by me, for $800. He replaced everything with GM parts. I just had to pull it and put it in myself. And he's going to give me 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty. I'm going to put it in tomorrow, I'll give an update once I test drive it.

are you using wheel spacers or adapters? if so did you get the spin balance done with the wheels installed on the car?
