Brakes are squeeking what should I do?

I need to replace my pads. While Im doing it what should I upgrade to? And I would like a "how to" to brake pad replacement. Thanks alot!

it'd help if you said what kind of car and front or rear pads. most of the info you seek can be found in your repair manual in the brake section.

it takes 5 mins, it isn't that hard. Go buy some pads and put them on.
