Anyone have this SFC problem with headers??

I have the Spohn Subframe connectors and the edelbrock TES headers and y-pipe in my 86 sport coupe, where the y-pipe enters the cat. the pipes rattle against the subframe connectors really bad to the point where you just want to go under the car and break one of the 2 off. Does anyone have this problem, what could I do to fix it.

Thanks in advance

You have to have the pipe cut and shortened a little and rewelded.

Instead of spending the money to have your pipe cut here is an easy fix. Try using Exhaust Tape. They wrap around your pipe or headers and secure with standard hose clamps or saftey wire. It can withstand the high temperatures of your exhaust and should solve that annoying vibration.
Racerwholesale.com has Exhaust Tape on sale. A (2"x1/16") 25ft. roll will cost you $9.95.

All you have to do is re-position your y-pipe. Loosen the connections of the y-pipe to the headers/manifolds, then loosen the connection of the y-pipe to the cat.

Now you can move your y-pipe around easily. It's easier with two people. Have one person hold the y-pipe down away from the SFC using a small bar, etc. While holding it in position, the second person re-tightens all the y-pipe connections nice & snug. The y-pipe will the stay pretty much where you were holding it.

Did this with my Edelbrock TES y-pipe and the Spohn SFCs and have plenty of clearance now. The above is what Steve told me to do when I called him, and it worked like a champ.
