1LE Master Cylinder Question

Ok I bought a remanufactured master cylinder. The 1LE master cyl is supposed to be the 82-89 Disc/Drum master right? Well the master i got had this stamped on the bottom of the casting part # 18006814 and also A50 while on daniel's page it lists the the master part # 18014286. well then my question is will the supposed disc/drum master i have work the way it's supposed to with my 1LE brakes. do i have the wrong master? should i return it and head on off to GM for the correct master? thanks for any replies and help.

This sounds like the right master cylinder for the 1LE,but it depends on what fittings your car has.Yes the 82-92 disk/drum(A50) master works.BUT,GM used different fittings on the F-bodies throughout the years. It can either be a SAE or Metric fitting master. You have to determine what fittings your car has and what fittings this master has to see if they are compatable.Hope this helps.

well that master i bought is the exact same one the car already had on it, A50. i have an 88 IROC i'm going to be putting it into. so the master cylinder is the correct one? whew... so i guess the only thing i need now is the 1LE combo valve.

Although I am not a moderator on this board.I must say that I have discussed this subject to death on the "temp 1LE" board. See the massive post begun by "Colt"of March 06,2001.The correct master cylinder, proportioning valve set up for the 1LE upgrade is,believe it or not.The stock J-50 Master cyl & proporioning valve. I have road tested every other combination. This one is the best. Thanx,ANDYZ28
