Painting Calipers

Anyone with experience, especially on car? If so, what was the preparation and product that you used?

I think VHT makes a brake parts paint. That should be best as far as painting goes, better would be to disassemble the caliper and get them powder coated but that is more time and money consuming. I have used engine paint wih good results.

I just used engine paint. You gotta figure that the caliper can't get hotter than boiling brake fluid (the morst terribly extreme conditions) because there is air constantly cooling the caliper. Engine paint is just fine. Exhaust paint is just fine, but overkill. However, considering they are the same price, it's all the same. If a Home Depot or Lowe's is closer than a parts store, you can get hi-temp paint there that is good to 1200 degrees fahrenheit (may be called BBQ paint or just hi-temp.

I didn't even give it a second thought on my car. Of course, it's not the first car on which I've painted the calipers.

Oh yeah, at least in my opinion, red looks much better than yellow (as these are the most common colors used).

I used a paint from Pep Boys called "cast iron gray", it was an engine paint. I just cleaned the caliper with brake cleaner, and after it dried, I shot it with two light coats of paint. It came out pretty good for the lack of time involved!
