SPRINGS&SHOCKS
SPRINGS&SHOCKS
I need new rear shocks bad. They are very noisy when I hit bumps, you can hear a "twang." I just replaced my front struts a year or two ago with factory ones, but I want aftermarket rears. What are good ones that will work with the factory fronts? I want a "nice" ride, I'm not too worried about road racing, but I don't want something that will hurt my performance at the drack strip any worse than it would be stock. So far I'm looking at TPIS, Koni, Gabriel, and Monroe. I really don't know what I need though. Should I get new springs too? What ones?
Shock brand is not going to effect your ride caracteristics. You have to choose between a stock replacement and a performance upgrade. There are some factory replacement shocks that provide a wider range of control. They usually say that they have a comfort zone and then as shock travel increases so does the dampining. Adjustable shocks will give you tuning control which can help at the track, but you probably won't notice any differance in the settings on the street.

I put a set of take-off 4th-gen shocks on and they are great. That and the new rear springs made a world of difference. Now i want to replace the front springs and add drop spindles.
