anyone seen this??? HELP!! strut problems

Okay so I just order Spohn's coilover kit yesterday...and I just looked at my Tokicos and I saw this:
Name: Picture068.jpg
Views: 20
Size: 106.6 KB
From the pictures I've seen of the coilovers that steel collar at the top of my strut body is going to get in my way...WHAT IS IT?! I'm thinking it might be the collar to hold the strut insert into the strut body that bolts onto the spindle but I'm not sure camaros have that...
I would love to not have to buy new struts so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: anyone seen this??? HELP!! strut problems

could be just a cap installed to make a better looking part.(im not sure)
if your getting a light coat of oil at the top. you need new ones anyway
wish i could help

i can tell you that even my lakewoods 90/10s had to be dressed just a tad at the top for the coil over boot to slide on. (the welds had just a few High spots). but it only took a few drags with a file.. then a fresh coat of a Nice Red and clear. fit nice a snug. only a light drag.

there site gives the OD they will fit. might wana check it out

hahaha I sure hope its just to make it look better! my problem is that the cap makes the diameter of the strut body about 3/16" bigger all the way around the top, its not the same diameter of the rest of the body, know what I mean?

Do you have any pics of your coilovers?

that piece of metal may just be a cap put over the top of the strut to keep crap of the finished end. It may slide or pop right off.

good to hear it worked, if you can, provided there is room with the coilover sleeve, i would put them back on afterwards
