while i have the motor out i replaced the steering box.
the threaded portion that pitman arm rest on just spins when i go to thighten the nut down.is supposed to spin freely

It's ok to spin freely, but if it has side to side motion the centerlink is worn out. If the centerlink is ok, use a c-clamp and pinch the joint together. Then tighten the nut.
