How strong is 9" bracket?
I have an F2 procharged 3rd gen that I am currently upgrading the rearend and rear suspension. I am looking at all my options. A fab9 is nice, but am also looking at a traditional 9" housing with the bracket attached that allows you to install the mount that in turn accepts the torque arm. The car made 938RWHP and I plan on using the trans-brake. My question is, do these brackets welded to the housing hold up to much abuse and what have people experienced. Thanks for any input.

which bracket? the currie one or the moser setup? the moser bracket setup they usually offer is a beast and i cant imagine it failing, the currie seems a lot lighter and IDK if i would trust it to almost 1000 wheel horse power and a good launch.

Yes, the moser/currie type. I am considering using an existing 9" (for 3rd gen) but it doesn't have the t/a mount, so would have to weld one on. Are there different ones for a stock style housing and where do you get them. I have seen currie's. Lookin for some pics as well,on types that have held up to abuse.

Re: How strong is 9" bracket?
How strong the mount is depends on how well it's installed. I wouldn't trust a 110v welder to provide a good enough weld. A 220v MIG or a TIG should provide enough strength but also depends on how well the prep work is and how well the welds are. Alignment is always the key. The mount itself doesn't get welded to the diff. Heavy wall tubes are welded to the diff then the mount is bolted through the tubes and the torque arm is bolted to the mount. 5/8" or 3/4" bolts attaching the mount to the tubes is more than strong enough. The weak link will be the quality of the welds.
I'm pretty sure Currie still sells the mount separately but I don't think Moser will.

Re: How strong is 9" bracket?
It is positively a 9" I bought it new 18 years ago from Moser and had southside lift bars put on. Never thought car would evolve where it has with hp. I would have a pro install it. Just been researching how much this set up would take? I would also have a back brace installed if i reuse this 9". I don't want to spend money on axles and do all this work if the unit ends up not being enough to support the abuse. What are the limits of this set up is my real question. And I think that currie is the only company that sells the brackets any more.

you would have to call moser and ask, but i dont see whay they wouldnt sell teh new torque arm bracket and mounts to a previous customer like yourself. Mosers bracket is much beefier than curries, i would go that route, and I honestly believe it will handle anything you throw at it. You will probably destroy other parts long before mosers brackets fails.
as for strength, i know there are guys running 8's at least with mosers setup
