Spohn frame connectors

Has anyone used Spohn frame ties for a convertible. I'm being told they are expensive to install...anyone expierenced with them or others? My goal is to snug the car up a little and keep rattles to a minimum....only stock powertrain,,,

Re: Spohn frame connectors

I bought the weld in connectors for my ttop car. I welded them in myself. They are not to bad to do. I just pulled the carpet back where I was welding and sanded a bare spot where I was welding. I believe you need to keep the wheels on and put the car on top of wheel stands to keep it level. If you find someone that can weld then your only looking at an afternoon to do it.

89 redlining RS,

did you weld them inside or outside the car?

They are welded on the outside, but you are welding them to the floor pan. So if you get the floor hot enough you may have a carpet fire. You just need to pull the edge back, I didn't even take out the seats. So it's only about 4 inches of carpet.

Did you purchase the powder coated or bare metal? How and what prep did you do?

Re: Spohn frame connectors

I went with the powder coated. Just sand a bare spot on the connector where you want to weld it and wipe down the underside of the body and your set. After welding I went back and sprayed the welds with some cheap spray can paint that was a close match.
